Designations: RPA (Real Property Administrator) - To be awarded an RPA, you must complete six mandatory courses, one elective course and attend a one-day Ethics is Good Business® ShortCourse (TM), in addition to fulfilling extensive management experience requirements. Completion of the following courses is mandatory for the RPA: The Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part I You must complete one more course, chosen from the following three electives: Managing the Organization Other requirements include: 3 years of verifiable property management experience in a portfolio or building 40,000 sq. ft. or larger. Experience must incorporate 18 out of 25 categories, as listed on the BOMI Institute website. A completed 4-page RPA Experience Requirement Form (available for download on the BOMI Institute website) Compliance with the BOMI Institute's Code of Professional Ethics and Conduct Please note: To maintain active status of your RPA designation, 18 points of Continuing Professional Development credit must be earned every three years and you must pay BOMI a fee. Once you have completed your RPA, you may earn an FMA by completing two to three additional courses, depending on which courses have been taken.

You may earn the BOMI-HP Designation by successfully completing all three required High-Performance Program courses: FMA (Facilities Management Administrator) - The FMA designation is geared to facility managers who work for a company or organization that manufactures a product, or provides non-real estate services as its primary business. The program teaches you to manage facilities in a way that best supports staff and fits into the organization's overall objectives. You must fulfill five courses detailing specific operating systems (i.e. boilers, electrical, plumbing) to earn the SMT. You must complete an additional three courses addressing the broader topics of building design, administration, and environmental health and safety issues, to earn the SMA. Candidates for the SMT or SMA must complete the following mandatory courses on specific building operating systems: Boilers, Heating Systems, and Applied Mathematics To earn the SMA designation, you must also complete these additional courses: Building Design and Maintenance All SMT and SMA designees must abide by the Code of Professional Ethics and Conduct.
